Sofia's Olympic 1st

So, it was baby's 1st birthday and I thought I should try and make something for baby.
The theme was "The Olympics" and as a coincidence it was on the closind day of the Olympics in London.

This was the invitation made using cupcake cases:

The food (or what was left of it). I used these free printables to make the table decorations and some of the games

And of course I made her clothes. She's dressed as Mandeville the Olympic Mascot. These were the first clothes I have ever made for her.
I am so proud :)

Quilting - aplique

I have started a new set of quilting and patchwork classes. I have decided to dedicate myself to different techquines. The panel below is based on 'applique'...basically applying different layers of fabrics.

I got the little cages in Portugal.
We used to have them when I was little to hold crickets...Weird, I know...
But now I find them so cute!!! Don't you agree?

What I have seen ... recently

from my trip posted previously...

I found all of these in a fantastic restaurant called "O Bernardo" in Boavista dos Pinheiros (near Odemira and Vila Nova de Milfontes), in Portugal.
I wanted to take everything with me...and I did...in pictures...

...a rag rug...
... a lovely couple...
(sewn by the owner of the restaurant...and she says she can't sew?!....)

...some patchwork bags...

I've seen some of these posted in A Saloia ... she calls them 'Talegos'
